Who We Are
The Troy Hill Campus of Discovery Christian Church serves the Burmese and Karen Refugees from Myanmar with services in their native tongue. Discovery is a unique multi-site congregation that strives to serve both the city and the suburbs with three diverse locations. The Cranberry and Southside locations are both English speaking campuses.
The Troy Hill campus is made up of both Karen and Burmese people that have come to the U.S. from refugee camps in Thailand. As a result of persecution from the political regime in Myanmar, many of the Karen people, as well as Burmese people sympathetic to those being persecuted, have been forced out of their country.
With the help of Jewish Family Services and Catholic Charities, several hundred Myanmar refugees have been relocated to mainly three areas of Pittsburgh… Prospect Park, Green Tree and Troy Hill.
Discovery Christian Church has helped to organize Bible Studies, Worship Services, and Social Events that bring the Burmese and Karen people from these three areas together as one.
