Myanmar

Discovery Christian Church supports Joshua Leme with a monthly commitment as a missionary to Myanmar. Joshua has been in ministry for more than two decades and has served his home country through sharing the message of Jesus, training pastors in Myanmar and tremendous humanitarian aid.

In May of 2008, a devastating cyclone ravaged the country of Myanmar leaving an estimated 200,000 dead and more than a million homeless. Because of the military government regime, world aid organizations have found it extremely difficult to provide aid as the government leaders have not allowed full access. Most of the aid entering Myanmar is coming through private and religious organizations. Discovery has partnered with Myanmar Christian Mission and Pastor Joshua Leme of Myanmar Church of Christ and Eastern Bible Institute in Myanmar to distribute aid.

To date, Discovery Christian Church has helped to raise more than $15,000 for relief efforts in Myanmar following the Cyclone in May of 2008. We also helped to send five Water Purification Systems (totaling $25,000) that are already producing 75,000 gallons of clean and fresh water per day (each!). Many homes have been re-constructed and thousands of pounds of food and medical supplies have been distributed. Thank you for your generosity and for helping to save hundreds of lives!

There are still many needs in Myanmar and we are still supporting the work through Joshua Leme. A portion of Discovery’s general budget (all campuses) goes directly to support the church and humanitarian relief in Myanmar.
